As the warm weather season approaches, you will likely be seeing more wildlife appear in your community. Bats, skunks, raccoons and domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, are amazing animals that are native to Contra Costa County. While these animals are part of our community, they can sometimes be carriers of the rabies virus.

This forum will discuss what you should know about the animals in your community that can potentially carry the rabies virus, what to do if you encounter a sick or injured animal, how you can best safeguard yourself from rabies exposure and what to do if you think you may have been exposed to the rabies virus.
