A MESSAGE FROM SUPERVISOR MARY NEJEDLY PIEPHO

DISCOVERY BAY RESIDENTS

SHOULD BE ALERT FOR NATURAL GAS ODORS

PLAN TO BE WITHOUT GAS SERVICE FOR 24 HOURS

PGE WARMING CENTER OPENED AT TIMBER POINT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
(DISCOVERY BAY 7:30 PM, 12/27)
Dear Constituents,
PGE has recently confirmed to me an extensive gas power outage for as many as 6,200 residents in the Discovery Bay area.  They have informed me that we should plan for being without gas (electricity not affected) until tomorrow night.  This means those of us with gas heaters, gas water heaters, gas stoves, gas fire places,  and other gas reliant appliances need to make plans to be without them for the next 24 hours.
PGE is opening up warming locations.  The first one is open and located at Timber Point Elementary School 40 Newberry Lane, Discovery Bay. PGE staff is currently arriving to assist with support.

  1. Btwn 11am and 5:30pm yesterday 12/27 I received 23 voice mails from PG&E with basically the same info that there was outage in Discovery Bay. I also recieved 1 voicemessage from the Sherriff’s Office on our cell and land line. I also checked the PG&E Gas Outage website to get a status report. It’s now 10am on Monday and there has been no additional updates either online at the PG&E gas outage website nor phone calls since yesterday evening. I would call that extremely POOR follow-up by PG&E. I also found that PG&E personnel went house to house yesterday and turned off our gas lines at the house. Neither of the above emergency notifications mentioned PG&E mentioned that our gas was turned off at the house nor what we should or shouldn’t do. Only that PG&E personel would be coming house to house sometime today to conduct pilot tests. Time for PG&E to reevaluate their emergency response info dissemination procedures.
