Happy 4th of July! Fireworks are America’s Independence Day tradition. Here is your guide to local 4th of July festivities. There are several displays around the Delta worth viewing:

56th Annual Hilton’s Mandeville Fireworks, July 4: Named after the hotel magnate that pays for this show, this magnificent display launches from a floating barge next to Barron Hilton’s duck club at Mandeville Tip on the Delta.  Thousands of boats surround the barge to enjoy the show, which is also set to a patriotic soundtrack broadcast on a local FM station (posted on the side of the barge).

Oakley Cityhood Celebration, July 4: This event opens at 6:00 PM at the Freedom High School soccer basin, 1050 Neroly Rd.  Admission to the event is free with a $5 wristband available for unlimited children’s rides and activities. There will be music, a wide variety of vendors, food, bounce houses, face painting and more.  The evening will culminate with a fantastic fireworks extravaganza.

Celebrate Antioch, July 4: This event features a full day of activities, including a street parade.  The fairgrounds open at Noon, admission is free ($5 parking) for live music, pony rides, old fashioned kids games, jumpys, classic car show, demos, food, beer and wine booths. Fireworks begin at 9:15pm. www.celebrateantioch.org

Stockton Ports Fireworks, July 3: Enjoy America’s favorite passtime and a fabulous fireworks display at the Stockton Ports minor league baseball game at Banner Island Ballpark, located at the recently transformed Stockton waterfront. Fireworks follow the game at approximately 9:15pm.

Discovery Bay – None!:   The Contra Costa County Sheriff and ECCFPD will practice a zero-tolerance policy for personal fireworks displays in Discovery Bay.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
