Representatives for the Save the California Delta Alliance (STCDA) announced that they will be holding a special meeting on February 12, 2014 at 6:30, PM at the Discovery Bay Elementary School to organize opposition to the twin tunnel project.
The water tunnels would divert water from the Sacramento River to southern California, depriving the Delta and Discovery Bay of fresh water flows. Discovery Bay based Save The California Delta Alliance has been spearheading opposition to the tunnel project.
“This is a critical meeting because the tunnel project may be teetering on the brink of failure . If we can organize Discovery Bay residents to help us oppose the project now we may be able to push it over the edge,” said Save the Delta Alliance attorney Michael Brodsky.
A special comment period is now open and the more comments that are submitted in opposition to the project the better the chances are that the tunnels can be stopped. The February 12 meeting will focus on preparing Discovery Bay residents to submit comments and organizing other anti-tunnel activities. For more info contact Jim at 925.513.9032
