Due to the high number of mosquitoes and the detection of West Nile virus in the area, the Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District was fogging by truck to control adult mosquitoes on the evening of Thursday July 12, 2012 in the following area:The area treated is bordered on the north by Sand Creek Parkway; by Sellers Avenue on the east; by Independence Street and Guthrie Lane on the south and Brentwood Boulevard is the western edge.

The insecticide to be used is Pyrocide 7396 applied at a rate of 0.75 oz./acre by truck-mounted ULV sprayer. This area was sprayed between dusk (approximately 8:30 PM) and 11:00 PM).

The most recent reports of dead bird positive for the West Nile Virus were found in the the areas of Balfour at Sellers, and Balfour and Walnut, in Easter Brentwood.
