Curtains Is Sure To Be One Tough Act To Follow!

Liberty High School Playmakers, is yet again gracing the stage with another spectacular show in February and March. This time the theatre arts club is producing Curtains, an offbeat murder mystery with lots of laughs. Curtains opened on Broadway in 2007, ran for more that 500 performances, earning eight Tony nominations. The music is by Kander and Ebb, the renowned team that brought us Chicago, Cabaret and many other theatrical hits, with a book by Rupert Holmes.

The show, set in 1959, begins with the final scene of the show-within-the-show, Robbin’ Hood of the Old West, where the obnoxious and, shall we say, untalented star is murdered. When the cast and crew is at a loss for how to save their show (and lives), it is up to Detective Cioffi of the Greater Boston Police to save the day and find love in doing so. The play also features side stories of romance, blackmail, and deceit – as is always expected in a classic who-done-it tale. We are giving Curtains an unofficial rating of PG-12.

Curtains runs February 24, 25 and March 2, 3, 8, 9 at 7 pm and March 10 at 2 pm. Tickets are $12.50 for the general public and $9.50 for senior citizens, youth, and college students (with ID). Thursday, March 8th is a discount night with all tickets selling for just $7.50. Online ticket sales will begin on Friday, February 17 at http://libertyunion.schoolwires.net/liberty/playmakers.
